Gavin York Sports Performance Coaching

Hello, My name is Gavin York and I got into sports performance coaching through my interest in snooker and sports psychology. I have seen throughout my life how the most skilful player doesn't always win and how performances can be affected by thoughts and patterns of thinking. I help players in all different sports so that they can play with confidence and realise their full potential. 

I am a qualified and experienced Snooker Coach and spent many years coaching players of all ages and abilities. I worked with top professionals and I was given the task of training up new coaches for the WPBSA. I continued to develop my own coaching methods and trained and worked with some of the best coaches in the world. During my time playing and coaching snooker I realised how important sports psychology was in the sport. This led me to become interested in sports psychology and I now concentrate on helping athletes and players in all sports as having the right mindset is often the difference in winning or losing.

I have studied various coaching methodologies over my coaching career and believe the more tools I have the better I am equipped to help my clients. As a result I am constantly learning new skills and developing my coaching. In 2019 I studied Sports Psychology using NLP and became a qualified Sports NLP practioner. I have also studied the latest techniques in sports psychology and I am currently applying to study a MSc in Psychology so that I can further understand and help my students.
